This gorgeous lily adorns large business planters across much of Ottawa. If you've admired the huge planters near the Landmark Theatre in Kanata, you have certainly seen some canna lilies in bloom there. Create your own, dramata porch planter with one or more cannas at the back or in the centre, and some wave petunias, lobelia, verbena, dichondra falls, alyssum or other spiller flowers all around. Or perhaps plant some striking snapdragons for a mid height plant, as well as coleus for a lower, leaving, full feel. Round it out with some pansies or violas. There are so many options! 
 
In September, dig up your canna lily bulb and store in peat moss in a cardboard box over the winter. Plant it out again when there is no chance of frost and it will flower again for you!
