With a name like this, one would not expect this cucumber to be a great one for slicing. But yes, it is true. The Chicago pickling cucumber is both excellent sliced AND pickled! These plants are resistant to cucumber mosaic virus and scab. We recommend using drip irrigation to water them so as to avoid potential downy mildew, which often hits cucumber plants in late summer and can decrease yields. These cucumbers are quite sweet and can bring a yield at about 58 days past planting.
